But today's AI agents don't just talk - they execute code, access databases, and trigger financial transactions. When autonomous agents operate with unbounded privileges and static credentials, the attack surface shifts from prompt injection to total system compromise. NuDay changes the paradigm from "trust but verify" to "never trust, cryptographically enforce." The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) establishes national standards for protecting sensitive patient health information. The Security Rule specifically requires appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of electronic protected health information (ePHI). ## How NuDay Protects ePHI Encrypted Agent Memory & RAG Stores NuDay encrypts ePHI within agent memory and vector databases using post-quantum cryptography. Even if an unauthorized user accesses the database, they cannot read the patient information without the cryptographic keys. Cryptographic Identity Binding Every medical agent is cryptographically bound to a verified clinician's identity via OIDC/OAuth2. This ensures absolute accountability and satisfies HIPAA's requirement for unique user identification and emergency access procedures. Immutable Audit Trails Our OpenTelemetry-based audit logging captures every access to ePHI with tamper-proof trails showing who accessed what data, when, and why. This exceeds HIPAA's audit control requirements. Transmission Security Agent-to-agent communication uses mutual TLS authentication and encrypted channels, ensuring ePHI is protected during transmission across networks. ## HIPAA Implementation Checklist Enable post-quantum encryption for agent memory and RAG stores Configure OIDC identity binding for all medical agents Set up immutable audit trails with OpenTelemetry Implement encrypted A2A communication channels Configure ePHI access controls and permissions Enable automated HIPAA compliance reporting ## The Result NuDay enables healthcare organizations to deploy AI agents that handle ePHI while maintaining full HIPAA compliance. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires public companies to maintain accurate financial records and implement internal controls over financial reporting. Sections 302 and 404 specifically mandate that executives certify the accuracy of financial statements and that effective controls are documented and tested. ## How NuDay Ensures Financial Control Cryptographic Tool Signatures for Financial Transactions Every financial tool executed by an agent (posting journal entries, initiating wire transfers, reconciling accounts) requires a valid cryptographic signature. This provides mathematically provable evidence of proper authorization and control execution. Immutable Financial Audit Trails Our tamper-proof audit logs capture the complete chain of custody for every financial decision made by AI agents, including the reasoning, authorization chain, and exact tool invocations. This satisfies SOX requirements for documenting financial controls. Segregation of Duties The centralized control plane enforces strict RBAC policies ensuring that agents operating in one business unit cannot access financial systems belonging to another, maintaining proper segregation of duties. Change Management & Version Control All agent behavioral guidelines and financial tools are cryptographically signed and versioned. Any unauthorized modification is instantly detected and blocked, ensuring financial controls cannot be bypassed. ## SOX Implementation Checklist Deploy cryptographic signatures for all financial tools Configure immutable audit trails for financial transactions Implement RBAC policies for segregation of duties Enable version control for agent behavioral guidelines Set up automated SOX compliance reporting Configure change detection and alerting ## The Result With NuDay, CFOs and auditors can certify with confidence that AI agents operating within financial systems are subject to rigorous, cryptographically enforced controls. Generate instant SOX audit reports showing exactly why each financial transaction was authorized. ## Need Expert Guidance? Schedule a compliance-focused technical consultation with our security architects Schedule SOX Compliance Consultation ## PCI-DSS Compliance ## What is PCI-DSS? The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) is a set of security requirements designed to ensure that all companies that accept, process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Version 4.0 emphasizes continuous security validation and introduces new requirements for encryption and access control. ## How NuDay Secures Payment Systems Cardholder Data Never in Plaintext Context NuDay ensures that raw cardholder data (Primary Account Numbers, CVV codes) is never exposed in an agent's plaintext context window. Payment gateways are accessed via encrypted, short-lived identity tokens that expire immediately after use. Encryption of Data in Transit and at Rest Our post-quantum encryption protects payment data both in vector stores and during agent-to-agent communication, exceeding PCI-DSS 4.0 requirements for strong cryptography. Restrict Access by Business Need-to-Know Cryptographic access control ensures that only agents with explicit authorization can access payment processing tools. An e-commerce agent cannot access payment data belonging to a different business unit. Logging and Monitoring of Network Access Every access to cardholder data environments is logged with immutable audit trails including timestamps, agent identities, and the specific data accessed. This satisfies PCI-DSS requirements for comprehensive logging. ## PCI-DSS Implementation Checklist Configure encrypted payment gateway access tokens Enable post-quantum encryption for payment data Implement cryptographic access controls for payment tools Set up comprehensive cardholder data access logging Configure network segmentation for payment environments Enable automated PCI-DSS compliance monitoring ## The Result NuDay enables secure deployment of AI agents in payment processing environments while maintaining PCI-DSS compliance. Your agents can handle transactions securely without ever exposing cardholder data to LLM context windows, dramatically reducing your compliance scope. ## Need Expert Guidance? If attackers breach your network, agentic workflows remain mathematically unbreakable. ## What NuDay Encrypts Unlike traditional agentic solutions that leave AI agent memory sitting in plaintext, NuDay enforces real-time, zero latency, end-to-end cryptographic protection across the entire cognitive lifecycle of your agents. ## 1. All Saved Agent Inputs & Prompts ## The Vulnerability Standard Agentic AI solutions store user prompts and system inputs in plaintext, exposing sensitive business context and PII. ## The NuDay Standard Every prompt, instruction, and contextual input is encrypted before it is stored or logged, keeping proprietary business logic confidential and satisfying GDPR and CCPA data minimization requirements. ## 2. Searchable Agent History ## The Vulnerability Autonomous agents need to remember past actions to complete complex tasks, but storing execution logs in standard databases creates a massive compliance liability. ## The NuDay Standard The agent's long-term history is encrypted yet stays vector-searchable: the agent queries its past experiences via similarity search, while an attacker accessing the database sees only randomized ciphertext. ## 3. RAG Data (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) ## The Vulnerability Vector databases (like Postgres pgvector or Pinecone) are frequently left exposed, acting as a honeypot for unstructured enterprise data, source code, and PHI. ## The NuDay Standard NuDay encrypts proprietary data before the embedding model chunks and stores it; retrieval and decryption happen automatically in real time, governed by the agent's access keys. ## 4. Shared Agent Memories (A2A Context) ## The Vulnerability In multi-agent systems, agents pass sensitive context back and forth. If this internal communication is unencrypted, one compromised low-level agent can scrape the memory of a high-privilege agent. ## The NuDay Standard NuDay enforces encrypted, mutual authentication (mTLS) for all Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication. Shared memory workspaces are cryptographically segmented so that only verified, participating agents can decrypt the collaborative context. ## 5. The Agent Core: Identity, Tools, and Guardrails ## The Vulnerability Adversaries use prompt injection to trick agents into ignoring their safety instructions or executing unauthorized backend tools. ## The NuDay Standard We lock down the agent's identity and capabilities via Cryptographic Signatures. Tools & Skills: An agent cannot execute a tool unless the command carries a verified public/private key signature. Guardrails & Guidelines: Anti-bias rules and behavioral limits are cryptographically bound to the agent. They cannot be bypassed, rewritten, or "forgotten" during runtime. ## Realtime Agent Encryption Agent Action reply, memory, or tool call It starts with the agent. A reply is generated, a memory saved, a tool called - producing a fresh checkpoint of state. Agent config validated Signed config verified before every turn. 01 CHK2 checksum plaintext integrity Detect corruption. A digest of the plaintext rides in a versioned header and is re-verified after every decrypt. 02 SIG1 signature classical or post-quantum Prove authorship. Classical DSA or post-quantum ML-DSA (Dilithium), per tenant. Going PQ is a config switch. 03 AES-GCM encrypt epoch-derived key Seal the record. Authenticated encryption under a key unique to this checkpoint: epoch root key, XOR version chain. Automatic key rotation Fresh root keys arrive on whatever schedule you set. 04 HMAC + headers MAC over payload + epoch Verify independently. A keyed MAC over payload + epoch adds a second integrity layer with an independent key. 05 Store sealed blob written to state database Nothing readable at rest. A stolen database yields only ciphertext; tampering is caught on load and alerts fire immediately. State database every message its own encrypted, signed, tamper-evident record Encryption Details Layer-by-layer cryptographic breakdown for technical readers ## Keys that rotate themselves Root keys are scoped per epoch and per tenant. A control-plane rotation job advances the epoch automatically on a configurable cadence, so the blast radius of any single key is minutes of data, not a database. Tenant scoping means a per-tenant revocation affects exactly one tenant - and the agent cannot even start its secure saver unless the NuDay Manager control plane answers its heartbeat. ## Why it matters Most agent frameworks persist conversation state as plaintext JSON. NuDay makes every message its own cryptographic domain: four independent protections per record, per-message keys, scheduled rotation, tenant isolation, and optional post-quantum signatures - provider-agnostic, in the cloud or fully on-premises. A database compromise yields nothing readable; tampering announces itself. ## Future-Proofed: Post-Quantum Cryptography & Native Crypto-Agility The threat landscape is shifting toward "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later": nation-state actors steal encrypted data today to break it with tomorrow's quantum computers. NuDay secures your infrastructure against both. ## Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) We natively support NIST-approved post-quantum algorithms (such as ML-KEM and ML-DSA), ensuring that your agent's memory, RAG stores, and A2A communications are immune to quantum decryption. ## Native Crypto-Agility NuDay's architecture is fully crypto-agile: as standards evolve, your security team can hot-swap encryption libraries and key management protocols with zero downtime, without rewriting a line of agent code. ## Ready to Encrypt Your Agent Infrastructure? See how NuDay secures autonomous AI with post-quantum encryption and zero-trust architecture. Schedule a Demo View Technical Architecture ## Encryption Details 01 CHK2 - plaintext checksum A configurable hash (SHA-256 by default) is computed and prepended in a versioned header, then re-verified against the decrypted payload on every load - corruption and partial writes are caught immediately. 02 SIG1 - digital signature Classical DSA or post-quantum ML-DSA (Dilithium), selectable per tenant. Post-quantum readiness is a configuration switch, not a migration project. 03 AES-GCM - authenticated encryption A 12-byte random nonce, and a key that is unique per checkpoint: derived from the current epoch root key and XOR-chained with the previous version. No two records ever share a key. 04 HMAC - independent integrity A keyed MAC over the payload plus epoch number, verified before decryption. Combined with GCM's own tag, integrity is enforced at two independent layers with independent keys. 05 Store - the sealed record What lands in the state database is unreadable without the control plane, and any tampering is detected the moment it is loaded. Verification failures alert operators in real time. --- # Policy Access | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/policy-access ## Policy & Access Zero-Credential Execution for AI Agents To perform complex tasks, AI agents need access to enterprise resources - databases, APIs, and administrative tools. But handing an autonomous AI the keys to your kingdom is a catastrophic security risk. Other solutions send both - stacking credentials into a most-privileged access model. NuDay keeps the identities separate - maintaining least-privileged access, the security best practice, throughout inter-agent communication and orchestration. NuDay redefines AI authorization by separating the agent from its identity - and from the user's identity. Agents can use credentials without ever seeing them. And when work is delegated on-behalf-of (OBO) a user or another agent: Only one credential travels - the agent's or the user's, never both. ## The Problem: The Danger of "Credentialed" Agents Most orchestration platforms and security vendors inject OAuth tokens, API keys, or session credentials directly into the agent's runtime or context window. This creates an unpatchable vulnerability: ## Memory Leaks & Storage LLMs are designed to remember context. If you hand an agent a token, it can unintentionally memorize it, write it to plain-text conversation logs, or store it in its RAG history. ## Replay Attacks If an attacker compromises the agent via prompt injection, they can extract those stored credentials and execute devastating replay attacks against your sensitive data and infrastructure. ## The NuDay Solution: On-Behalf-Of (OBO) Execution With NuDay, the agent is completely separated from your secrets. We utilize a dedicated NuDay Policy Server to broker all access. ## Zero-Knowledge Architecture When an agent needs to pull a customer record from Salesforce or execute a query in Postgres, it does not use a credential. Instead, it sends a cryptographic request to the NuDay Policy Server. ## Secure Brokering The Policy Server verifies the agent's identity, checks the enterprise policy, retrieves the necessary credential from the vault, and executes the API call on behalf of the agent. ## Data, Not Keys The Policy Server returns only the requested data (the result) back to the agent. The agent never sees the API key or token, making AI-driven credential theft or replay attacks impossible. NuDay ensures the AI Agent never handles authorization credentials, preventing replay attacks and data exfiltration. ## Real-Time "Human-in-the-Loop" (HITL) Approvals Autonomy must be governed by human oversight. NuDay allows you to enforce strict boundary conditions for high-risk actions: Initiating a wire transfer Modifying production code Accessing PHI - protected health information. ## Dynamic Access Requests If an agent attempts an action that exceeds its baseline permissions, the NuDay Policy Server pauses the execution and triggers a real-time Access Request. ## 3rd-Party Approvers The request is instantly routed to a designated human approver via your existing workflows (Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Email). ## Contextual Escalation The approver sees exactly what the agent wants to do, why it wants to do it, and whose behalf it is acting on. Once approved, the Policy Server completes the OBO execution. ## Seamless Enterprise IAM & PAM Integration NuDay doesn't replace your enterprise identity stack; it extends your existing Zero-Trust architecture to your AI fleet. ## Directory Sync Native integration with LDAP, Active Directory, and OIDC, ensuring that an agent's permissions are dynamically tied to the human user's organizational role. ## PAM Compatibility Integrates seamlessly with existing Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions. When the Policy Server needs to execute a privileged task, it can dynamically check out a short-lived credential from your existing PAM vault. ## Unified Policy Enforcement Manage agent access policies from the same centralized console you use to manage human access, ensuring consistent governance across the enterprise. ## Competitive Contrast: Agent Access Models Feature / Risk Profile NuDay (Policy Server) Legacy Orchestrators (LangChain/Semantic Kernel) AI "Firewalls" (Lakera/Protect AI) Where Credentials Live Isolated in the Policy Server Injected into Agent Context / Environment Injected into Agent Context / Environment Risk of Agent Memorizing Keys Zero (Agent never sees the key) High (Often logged in plaintext) High (Firewalls only filter outputs) Vulnerability to Replay Attacks Zero (Tokens are never exposed) High High Execution Model On-Behalf-Of (OBO) Execution Direct Agent Execution Direct Agent Execution Native Human-in-the-Loop Real-time 3rd-Party Approval Routing Requires custom coding Output blocking only ## Ready to Eliminate AI Credential Risk? Schedule a Demo View Technical Architecture --- # Digitally Signed Tools | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/digitally-signed-tools ## Signed Tools Mathematical Certainty for Agentic Execution Traditional AI security relies on probabilistic firewalls and brittle Python hooks to guess if an agent is doing something malicious. Prompt injection is no longer about tricking a chatbot into saying something inappropriate. Agents have access to your databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. That makes prompt injection a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability. NuDay takes a different approach: Mathematical Certainty. We are the only enterprise platform that secures autonomous workflows by cryptographically signing the agent's tools, guardrails, and instructions. If a command doesn't have the math to back it up, it simply doesn't run. ## The Vulnerability: When Prompt Injection Becomes Command Injection To understand why cryptographic signatures are necessary, you have to look at how other platforms handle agent security. When an agent reads a poisoned web page, untrusted PDF, or malicious email, an Indirect Prompt Injection can overwrite its system prompt - hijacking the LLM and instructing it to execute a backend tool, like exporting a database or emailing a secure file to an external server. ## How do legacy systems try to stop this? ## Prompt Firewalls Try to scan the text for malicious intent before the LLM reads it. (Easily bypassed by encoding or novel attack phrasing). ## Execution Hooks Use Python if/else statements (e.g., if tool == 'delete_file', block) to intercept the action. The problem? You are relying on software to police a highly unpredictable neural network. If the attacker successfully tricks the LLM or bypasses the regex filter, the rogue tool executes. ## The NuDay Standard: What We Cryptographically Sign NuDay removes the guesswork. We physically separate the AI's brain (the LLM) from its hands (the execution environment) using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Here is exactly what we digitally sign and lock down: ## 1. Agent Tools & MCP Servers ## What it is The actual Python scripts, API calls, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations your agent uses to interact with the world. ## How it's protected Every approved tool is hashed and signed with an enterprise private key. When the LLM requests to execute a tool, the NuDay runtime verifies the cryptographic signature before execution. ## The Protection Zero-Click RCE and Supply Chain Attacks. If a hijacked prompt injects a rogue tool script, or a compromised open-source library alters the tool payload, the cryptographic signature fails and execution is blocked instantly at runtime. ## 2. Behavioral Guardrails ## What it is The hard boundary conditions that dictate what an agent cannot do (e.g., Never expose PII, Never execute trades over $10k without human approval). ## How it's protected Guardrails are signed and immutably bound to the agent's core identity. ## The Protection Instruction Override Attacks. Attackers frequently use prompt injection to tell the agent, Ignore all previous instructions. Because NuDay's guardrails are cryptographically signed at the infrastructure layer - not just typed into the system prompt - the LLM is physically incapable of overriding or forgetting its security boundaries. ## 3. Operational Guidelines ## What it is The specific, step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) an agent must follow to complete a task compliantly. ## How it's protected Guidelines are version-controlled and signed. ## The Protection Behavioral Drift & Hallucination. If the LLM hallucinates an unapproved step in a critical financial or medical workflow, the runtime rejects it: the hallucinated path lacks the approved Guideline's cryptographic signature. ## 4. Agent Skills & Identity ## What it is The verified capabilities assigned to a specific agent (e.g., This agent has the Read-Only skill for the HR database). ## How it's protected Skills are cryptographically bound to the agent's OIDC identity token. ## The Protection Lateral Movement & Privilege Escalation. In a multi-agent system, a compromised low-level agent cannot impersonate a high-level agent or grant itself new skills. Schedule a Demo View Technical Architecture --- # Secure Shared Memory | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/shared-memories ## Secure Shared Memory Cryptographic Context Delegation Between Agents Most multi-agent systems handle shared memory in one of two flawed ways: Force agents to operate in complete isolation - destroying collaborative efficiency. Dump all agent context into a massive, plaintext shared vector database - creating a security honeypot. NuDay introduces a unique capability: Dynamic Encryption Key Delegation. Through our secure Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol, agents cryptographically grant - and instantly revoke - access to specific memory clusters. True policy delegation of shared secrets, without exposing the underlying data. As your AI infrastructure scales from single-agent tasks to complex multi-agent orchestration, a critical vulnerability emerges: How do agents share context without sharing all of your secrets? ## Why It's Important: The Problem with "Shared Context" In modern orchestration (like a "Software Development Crew"), a Requirements Agent might need to pass customer PII or proprietary architecture logic to a Coding Agent. If they use a standard shared memory pool, the Coding Agent now has permanent access to that sensitive data. If the Coding Agent is later compromised via a prompt injection attack, the adversary can query the shared database to exfiltrate the Requirements Agent's highly sensitive context. To collaborate securely, agents need the ability to lend context temporarily, just like human workers sharing a secure document, and revoke that access the millisecond the collaborative task is complete. ## How It Works & What It Protects Against NuDay replaces static database permissions with dynamic, peer-to-peer cryptographic brokering. ## The Mechanism When Agent A needs to share a sensitive memory (e.g., a processed financial report) with Agent B, it doesn't send plaintext JSON. NuDay's Policy Server brokers a temporary, scoped encryption key via the mTLS-secured A2A protocol; Agent B decrypts the memory to complete its task, and when it concludes, Agent A (or the global policy engine) instantly revokes the key. ## Protection Against Cascading Compromise Even if an attacker successfully hijacks Agent B later that day, they cannot access the financial report. The cryptographic key has been revoked, and the memory remains mathematically unreadable ciphertext. ## Protection Against Persistent Privilege Escalation Agents cannot "hoard" secrets. Because access is governed by revocable encryption keys rather than static IAM roles, an agent's access to sensitive enterprise memory shrinks back to zero the moment its specific sub-task is finished. ## Protection Against Memory Snooping In multi-tenant or massive multi-agent environments, rogue agents cannot scrape the vector database to steal context. Memory is physically partitioned by encryption, not just software-level database namespaces. ## Competitive Overview: Inter-Agent Memory Security Across the AI ecosystem - open-source orchestrators, cloud providers, vector databases - some platforms offer "encryption at rest" for the database itself. Schedule a Demo View Technical Architecture --- # Agent Governance | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/agent-governance ## Agent Governance From Probabilistic Safety to Cryptographic Certainty Traditional AI governance was built for chatbots - focused on output risk (accuracy, bias, inappropriate responses) Autonomous agents plan, call APIs, trigger workflows, and make decisions without constant human supervision When AI transitions from generating text to executing actions, governance must shift from static policies to dynamic runtime enforcement The industry's most rigorous, mathematically proven governance architecture for scaling autonomous systems in regulated environments. Fragile software rules, replaced with unbreakable cryptography. ## Why Agent Governance Matters & What It Protects Against Deploying agents without an explicit governance framework transforms your AI from a productivity multiplier into a massive compliance liability. NuDay protects your enterprise against the unique failure modes of autonomous systems: ## Action Risk vs. Output Risk If a chatbot hallucinates, you get a bad answer. If an autonomous procurement agent hallucinates, it might issue a $50,000 purchase order to an unvetted vendor. NuDay mathematically constrains what the agent is allowed to do. ## Cascading Autonomous Failures When autonomous agents interact (Agent-to-Agent or A2A), a single compromised agent can manipulate others, propagating a localized breach across your entire network at machine speed. ## The "Ghost User" Accountability Gap Many enterprise agents operate with broad, shared service accounts. If an incident occurs, it is nearly impossible to prove why the agent took action or which human initiated the workflow. ## Regulatory Non-Compliance Frameworks like the EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, and the NIST AI RMF mandate explainability, risk-based oversight, and reversibility for autonomous systems. Handing an auditor a static "AI Ethics Policy" is no longer legally defensible. ## How NuDay Enables and Satisfies Governance Mandates NuDay maps directly to the five core pillars of 2026 Agentic AI Governance, replacing fragile software rules with unbreakable cryptography. 1 ## Identity & Scope Definition ## The Governance Requirement Every agent must have a defined scope, operating under the principle of least privilege. ## The NuDay Standard OIDC-Identity Bound Agency. We bind every agent to a verified human or service identity using OIDC/OAuth2. An agent's permissions dynamically reflect the human user's organizational role, preventing unauthorized scope expansion. 2 ## Runtime Tool Boundaries & Execution Control ## The Governance Requirement Organizations must strictly control which tools and APIs an agent can access in real-time, preventing malicious prompt injections from hijacking the system. ## The NuDay Standard Cryptographically Signed Tools. NuDay replaces probabilistic prompt filters with mathematical certainty: no tool executes without a verified public/private key signature from the enterprise. Rogue tool injection is blocked at runtime. 3 ## Human Oversight & Escalation (HITL) ## The Governance Requirement High-risk autonomous actions must be paused for human review before execution. ## The NuDay Standard Zero-Credential OBO Execution via the NuDay Policy Server. Agents never hold credentials. When an agent requests a sensitive action (like modifying a database), Least-Privileged Delegation pauses the workflow and routes a real-time approval request to a human manager via Slack or Teams. The action executes On-Behalf-Of the agent only once approval is logged. 4 ## Data Access & Privacy Controls ## The Governance Requirement Agents must not expose sensitive data, PII, or PHI during their reasoning processes or while querying memory. ## The NuDay Standard Post-Quantum Encrypted RAG. We secure the agent data layer itself. Agent memory and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) stores are encrypted with searchable PQC encrypted data and obfuscated vectors, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA. 5 ## Continuous Auditability & Attribution ## The Governance Requirement Every decision, tool use, and data access event must be perfectly traceable to support incident investigations and regulatory audits. ## The NuDay Standard Immutable OpenTelemetry Tracing. NuDay captures a tamper-proof forensic trace of the entire agent lifecycle - user intent to autonomous reasoning to final action - and instantly generates the "Chain of Custody" reports SOX, SEC, and EU AI Act auditors require. ## 2026 Competitive Overview: The Agentic Governance Landscape Most "Agent Governance" platforms are open-source orchestrators relying on fragile Python hooks, AI firewalls that only filter text, or walled-garden CRM ecosystems. When an agent loops infinitely or fails a task silently, standard console logs are useless. Granular call traces - every prompt, tool call, and payload. A live topology map of your entire A2A network. Token and cost tracking by agent, organization, and tenant. The NuDay Manager provides an Enterprise Control Plane that gives developers x-ray vision into their agentic workflows. Optimize performance, track costs, debug logic - all in real time. 1 ## Granular Call Traces ## Development Challenge Figuring out exactly why an LLM made a specific decision requires painstakingly reconstructing its internal "Thought -> Action -> Observation" loop from raw text logs. ## The NuDay Solution We provide native, visual call tracing (via OpenTelemetry and Tempo). Click into any agent execution and see the exact sequence: the prompt the LLM received, the tool it called, the payload it sent, and the data it got back. Debugging a failed workflow takes seconds, not hours. 2 ## Live Agent Topology Mapping ## Development Challenge In multi-agent architectures (like LangGraph or CrewAI), visualizing which agent is passing data to which - and identifying bottlenecks or infinite feedback loops - is incredibly difficult. ## The NuDay Solution NuDay Manager automatically generates a Live Topology Map. You get a real-time visual graph of your entire Agent-to-Agent (A2A) network, showing exactly who is talking to whom, the frequency of those interactions, and whether any unauthorized agents are attempting lateral communication. 3 ## Intent Input vs. Output Alignment ## Development Challenge How do you programmatically prove that the agent actually did what the user asked, rather than getting distracted or hallucinating a different goal mid-task? ## The NuDay Solution Our dashboard tracks Intent Alignment, mapping the original user prompt against the final executed tool chain. If a user asks for a "read-only summary" but the agent attempts a "write" action, the dashboard highlights the drift immediately so you can refine prompts and guardrails. 4 ## Tool Invocation Counts & API Analytics ## Development Challenge Agents can easily fall into "retry loops," hammering expensive third-party APIs or internal databases hundreds of times a minute, racking up massive bills or triggering rate limits. ## The NuDay Solution Monitor Tool Invocation Counts across your entire fleet. Instantly identify which tools are your most heavily relied upon, spot anomalous spikes in execution, and catch looping agents before they take down your backend services. 5 ## LLM Token Utilization & Cost Tracking ## Development Challenge Autonomous agents consume tokens unpredictably as they summarize data, formulate plans, and read vector search results. Tracking costs per agent or per task is a billing nightmare. ## The NuDay Solution Granular LLM Token Utilization metrics by agent identity, organization, and tenant show exactly how much context an agent consumes per task - so you can optimize RAG chunk sizes and prompt efficiency to lower inference costs. 6 ## Agent Review UI & Workflows ## Development Challenge Moving an agent to production requires proving it behaves safely. When a security system flags an anomaly, developers sift through thousands of unorganized JSON log lines to reconstruct the decision boundary and decide: false positive or critical hallucination? ## The NuDay Solution We provide a dedicated Agent Review UI. Instead of writing custom log parsers, developers and security teams step through a visual timeline of flagged sessions: replay the agent's actions, review the policy violations triggered by the Alert Evaluator, and approve, adjust, or quarantine the workflow directly from the dashboard. As the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) becomes a federal mandate, NuDay ensures your autonomous systems are compliant and quantum-resistant from day one. ## The Encryption-First Difference NuDay is built for federal zero-trust mandates. We utilize post-quantum cryptography to secure agent communications and data. Our native crypto-agility means that as NIST finalizes or updates PQC algorithms (like ML-KEM or ML-DSA), your agency can swap libraries with zero downtime. ## Regulatory Alignment & How We Satisfy It ## DHS/NIST PQC Migration Mandates We natively support NIST-approved post-quantum algorithms, ensuring government agent memory and A2A (Agent-to-Agent) communications are immune to quantum decryption. ## Executive Order 13960 (Trustworthy AI) We guarantee that AI agents act exactly as intended. Tools, skills, and agent identities are cryptographically signed, preventing adversarial prompt injection from hijacking federal agents. ## FedRAMP & CISA Guidelines We secure the AI supply chain. Because the agent data layer itself is encrypted, vulnerabilities in underlying LLM providers do not compromise classified government data. ## NuDay vs. DoD 7 Pillars of Zero Trust DoD Zero Trust Pillar NuDay Capability Mission Impact (DoD / Enterprise) 1. User OIDC Identity-Bound Agency Ties every autonomous AI action directly to a verified human credential (compatible with CAC/PIV), ensuring absolute non-repudiation. 2. Device Secure Execution Enclaves Verifies the cryptographic integrity of the agent's runtime environment before execution, treating the agent infrastructure as a hardened, compliant endpoint. 3. Applications & Workloads Cryptographically Signed Tools Blocks prompt-injection and supply chain attacks; agents are mathematically constrained to execute only authorized, signed DoD applications and APIs. 4. Data PQC-Encrypted RAG Pipelines Secures classified information (CUI) using Post-Quantum Cryptography. Ensures sensitive mission data in vector stores is never exposed in plaintext to external LLMs. 5. Network & Environment A2A Mutual Authentication (mTLS) Enforces strict micro-segmentation for Agent-to-Agent communication. Agents cannot interact across networks without proving cryptographic identity, preventing lateral movement. 6. Automation & Orchestration Dynamic Secret Rotation & IaC Automates the lifecycle of agent credentials via short-lived leases and enforces infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to eliminate manual configuration errors. 7. Visibility & Analytics Immutable OpenTelemetry Auditing Captures a forensic, tamper-proof trace of every AI decision, tool invocation, and data access request for continuous threat hunting and automated compliance reporting. ## Department of Defense (DoD) Zero Trust Strategy ## 1. The User Pillar: Identity-Bound Agency ## DoD Mandate Continuous verification of user identities, strict least-privilege enforcement, and dynamic access control based on user behavior and context. ## The AI Threat Traditional AI agents operate as "ghost users" with standing, over-privileged access. If an agent goes rogue or is hijacked, it is nearly impossible to trace the action back to a specific human operator or authorization chain. ## NuDay Capability OIDC Identity-Binding. NuDay strips the AI of implicit trust. Every autonomous action, tool invocation, and database query must be cryptographically bound to a verified OIDC/OAuth2 identity (compatible with CAC/PIV standards). ## Mission Impact Absolute non-repudiation. Commanders and auditors can trace every agent-driven decision back to the specific human-in-the-loop or authorized service account that initiated the workflow. ## 2. The Device Pillar: Hardened Execution Enclaves ## DoD Mandate Continuous assessment of device health, compliance, and configuration. Only trustworthy, compliant endpoints are granted access to the network. ## The AI Threat AI agents are dynamic workloads, often spun up in ephemeral cloud containers. If the underlying runtime environment is compromised by malware or memory-scraping, the agent's secrets and operational context are exposed. ## NuDay Capability Secure Agent Runtimes. NuDay treats the agent's execution environment (whether a Docker container or Kubernetes pod) as a highly regulated endpoint. The Manager continuously verifies the cryptographic hash and integrity of the runtime before releasing short-lived decryption keys. ## Mission Impact Agents operate strictly within trusted enclaves. If an edge node or cloud container falls out of compliance, NuDay instantly revokes its cryptographic keys, freezing the agent before data can be compromised. ## 3. The Network & Environment Pillar: Zero-Trust A2A Micro-Segmentation ## DoD Mandate Implement micro-segmentation, software-defined perimeters, and strict traffic controls to contain breaches and prevent lateral movement. ## The AI Threat In multi-agent architectures, agents frequently pass data back and forth. If internal Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication channels are unauthenticated, a compromised low-level agent can impersonate a high-level agent to extract classified intelligence. ## NuDay Capability A2A Mutual Authentication (mTLS). NuDay enforces micro-segmentation at the application layer. Agents cannot communicate with one another without mutual cryptographic authentication. Furthermore, the NuDay Manager actively monitors the live A2A topology. ## Mission Impact Neutralizes lateral movement. An adversary cannot use a hijacked procurement agent to laterally access a logistics agent, as the network request will be cryptographically rejected. ## 4. Applications & Workloads ## DoD Mandate Secure development practices, rigorous application testing, and continuous authorization for every workload - no application or process is implicitly trusted, and each action must be authenticated and authorized before it is allowed to execute. ## The Threat: Rogue Tool Execution in AI Agents In a traditional IT environment, a compromised application might leak data. In an agentic environment, a compromised AI agent can take unauthorized actions. Adversaries know that they don't need to breach your perimeter to manipulate an AI. Through techniques like Indirect Prompt Injection (e.g., hiding malicious text inside a seemingly harmless PDF or website that the agent reads), an attacker can hijack the LLM's context. Once hijacked, the agent can be tricked into using its connected tools-like a database query API, a Kubernetes deployment script, or a messaging app-to exfiltrate data or sabotage systems. Legacy Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) and prompt-filtering tools cannot stop this, because the malicious command originates from inside the already-authenticated AI workload. ## The Solution: Cryptographic Tool Signatures NuDay satisfies the DoD's strict requirements for workload authorization by physically separating the AI's "brain" (the LLM) from its "hands" (the tools) using Cryptographically Enforced Tool Execution. Here is how we lock down the application layer: Zero-Trust Tool Registry (Allow-Listing): NuDay replaces implicit trust with a mathematically proven allow-list. Every tool, API, or script available to an agent must be registered in the NuDay Manager and signed with a private cryptographic key. Runtime Signature Verification: When an agent decides to execute a tool (e.g., query_classified_database), the NuDay runtime acts as the Policy Enforcement Point (PEP). It intercepts the request and verifies the tool's public key signature before allowing the execution to proceed. Defeating Prompt Injection: If a nation-state actor successfully hijacks the agent's prompt and commands it to execute a rogue or altered tool script (e.g., export_database_to_external_ip), the NuDay runtime will instantly block the action. Because the adversary does not possess the enterprise's private key, the rogue tool lacks the required cryptographic signature, rendering the prompt injection harmless. Continuous Authorization (NSA & DoD Mandate): The DoD explicitly requires continuous, ongoing authorization for applications. NuDay enforces this by coupling tool signatures with dynamic, short-lived access tokens. Even if a signed tool is executed, the agent must fetch a just-in-time, scoped token to complete the action, ensuring least-privilege access at the exact millisecond of execution. ## Mission Impact By cryptographically enforcing what an AI workload is allowed to do, NuDay allows DoD components and cleared defense contractors to safely deploy agentic AI into mission-critical environments. You move from trying to "guess" if an AI is hallucinating or compromised, to mathematically guaranteeing that it can only execute authorized mission parameters. ## 5. Data Pillar ## DoD Mandate End-to-end protection of data at rest and in transit through classification and tagging, encryption tied to enterprise policy, digital rights management, data loss prevention, and granular attribute-based access control - wherever the data resides and however it is used. ## The Threat: Plaintext AI Memory and "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" In standard AI deployments, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines ingest sensitive documents, chunk them, and store them in vector databases (like Postgres pgvector or Pinecone) as plaintext embeddings. Furthermore, as agents operate, their conversational history and execution logs are stored in standard databases so the agent can "remember" past context. If a nation-state actor breaches the perimeter, they can exfiltrate these vector stores and agent histories. Even worse, under the "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" threat model, adversaries steal encrypted data today with the intent of using future quantum computers to break standard AES or RSA encryption. ## The Solution: Post-Quantum Encrypted Data Layer NuDay aligns perfectly with the DoD's Data Encryption, Governance, and Access Control mandates by encrypting the AI data layer itself, ensuring the LLM only accesses what it is mathematically authorized to see. 1. Post-Quantum Encrypted RAG Pipelines NuDay does not allow sensitive DoD data to sit exposed in vector databases. How it works: Before data is embedded and stored in your RAG pipeline, NuDay encrypts the data using NIST-approved Post-Quantum Cryptographic (PQC) algorithms. DoD Alignment (Data Encryption & DRM): This ensures data at rest is immune to both classical and quantum decryption. When an agent queries the RAG system, the retrieval and decryption process happens securely within the NuDay enclave, strictly governed by the agent's identity and access token. 2. Encrypted & Vector-Searchable Agent History Autonomous agents need long-term memory to handle complex, multi-day workflows (e.g., analyzing a continuous stream of signal intelligence). How it works: NuDay encrypts the agent's execution history, memory, and state. However, to keep the agent functional, we utilize advanced cryptography that allows the encrypted data to remain vector searchable. The agent can still query its own encrypted past experiences via similarity search without ever exposing the underlying memory logs in plaintext to the database administrator. DoD Alignment (Data Monitoring & Data Loss Prevention): This satisfies strict Data Loss Prevention (DLP) requirements. If an insider threat or external attacker compromises the agent's database, they cannot read the agent's operational history. 3. Cryptographic Data Access Control The DoD mandates that data access must be based on enterprise policies and granular attributes (Attribute-Based Access Control). How it works: NuDay binds specific decryption keys to specific OIDC-verified agent identities. A logistics agent and a targeting agent might query the same secure enterprise database, but they will only be able to decrypt and retrieve the data blocks (or vector chunks) that match their cryptographic permissions. DoD Alignment (Data Tagging & Access Control): This enforces strict micro-segmentation of data at the query level, ensuring an agent cannot hallucinate or be manipulated into retrieving classified data above its clearance level. ## Mission Impact By combining PQC-encrypted RAG with vector-searchable encrypted history, NuDay allows the DoD to deploy highly intelligent, context-aware agents without creating a centralized, plaintext repository of classified intelligence. The data remains protected against today's breaches and tomorrow's quantum threats. ## 6. The Automation & Orchestration Pillar: Dynamic Policy Enforcement ## DoD Mandate Use automated tools, workflows, and policy enforcement mechanisms to scale security, respond to threats faster, and eliminate human configuration errors. ## The AI Threat Managing API keys, database credentials, and behavioral guardrails manually for thousands of autonomous agents leads to "secret sprawl" and inevitable configuration drift, leaving open doors for adversaries. ## NuDay Capability Automated Secret Lifecycle & IaC. NuDay automates the entire security lifecycle. Hardcoded credentials are replaced with dynamic, just-in-time secret rotation. Furthermore, all agent security policies are deployed via declarative Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), eliminating manual policy drift. ## Mission Impact Scales Zero Trust natively. Security teams can instantly update "Global Guardrails" across thousands of deployed agents simultaneously, orchestrating an immediate defense against newly discovered threat vectors. ## 7. The Visibility & Analytics Pillar: Immutable AI Forensics ## DoD Mandate Comprehensive logging, real-time monitoring, and AI/ML-driven threat detection across the entire infrastructure to support continuous risk assessment. ## The AI Threat Standard console logs do not capture the cognitive reasoning or dynamic context of an LLM. When a security incident occurs, cyber operators are left with a "black box" and no forensic evidence of why the AI took a specific action. ## NuDay Capability Immutable OpenTelemetry Tracing. NuDay captures a forensic, tamper-proof trace of every single agent operation. This includes the initial prompt, the encrypted vector search, the exact tool executed, and the final output. This data is seamlessly exported to DoD-approved SIEMs (Security Information and Event Management systems) via OpenTelemetry. ## Mission Impact Transforms AI from a black box into a fully transparent system. This provides the exact electronic signature and audit trail required by the FDA for automated clinical systems. ## GxP Compliance We ensure that lab-automation agents operate within strict, encrypted parameters. If an agent attempts an unverified action outside of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines, the cryptographic signature fails, and the process halts. ## Competitive Analysis: Life Sciences Feature NuDay Protect AI Guardrails AI IP Protection Level Post-Quantum Encryption Standard MLSecOps Standard text validation FDA CFR Part 11 Ready Yes (Cryptographic tool signatures) No No Secure Lab Automation Yes (Encrypted execution) No No Ready to Secure Your Life Sciences AI? ## Protect Your Life Sciences AI Infrastructure See how NuDay secures pharmaceutical and biotech AI agents with post-quantum encryption and FDA compliance. Schedule a Life Sciences Demo View Technical Architecture --- # Agent-Based Software | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/agent-based-software ## Agent-Based Software The New Foundation of Enterprise Compute For the past decade, the software industry has built systems around passive components: APIs that wait to be called. Databases that wait to be queried. Microservices that execute rigid, hardcoded logic. Artificial Intelligence was initially treated as just another passive feature, a "smart API" you called to summarize text or generate a response. That era is over. Welcome to the era of Agent-Based Software (ABS). The agents are the software. Not temporary workers or conversational wrappers - stateful, autonomous system components that analyze, process, share, and store data natively, replacing integration middleware and static microservices with adaptive intelligence. ## The Evolution: From Microservices to Agentic Ecosystems To understand ABS, look at how backend architecture has evolved: 2010s ## The Monolith All business logic tightly coupled in one massive application. 2020s ## Microservices Logic decoupled into domain-specific services (e.g., a "Shipping Service" and a "Payment Service") communicating via static, event-driven APIs. Today ## Agent-Based Software Microservices upgraded with cognitive agency. Instead of a rigid "Shipping Service" API, you deploy a Logistics Agent that monitors weather, negotiates rates with carrier agents in real time, reroutes packages autonomously, and remembers vendor reliability. If the software can think and act independently, perimeter firewalls and hardcoded IAM roles are no longer sufficient. ## Core Characteristics of Agent-Based Software Capabilities traditional software cannot match - and the security challenges NuDay is designed to solve. 1 ## Stateful Continuity & Memory ## The ABS Concept Unlike stateless APIs that forget you when a request ends, ABS components maintain continuous memory across multi-day operations and long-running relationships. ## The NuDay Enablement A plaintext vector database is a data leak waiting to happen. With NuDay's Vector-Searchable Post-Quantum Encryption, agents retain long-term memory while the underlying database stays mathematically unreadable to attackers. 2 ## Dynamic A2A (Agent-to-Agent) Orchestration ## The ABS Concept ABS components don't rely on rigid API gateways. They discover each other, negotiate, and collaborate to solve complex tasks dynamically. ## The NuDay Enablement Unsecured collaboration invites cascading compromise. NuDay secures agent-to-agent traffic with Mutual TLS (mTLS) and Cryptographic Memory Delegation: agents share specific context clusters and instantly revoke access when the sub-task ends. 3 ## Autonomous Tool Execution ## The ABS Concept Traditional integration services just move data from Point A to Point B. Agent-Based Software actively manipulates the environment: writing code, altering database records, and executing financial transactions. ## The NuDay Enablement NuDay enforces Cryptographically Signed Tools so prompt injection cannot become Remote Code Execution (RCE): a rogue or hijacked agent is mathematically blocked from executing unauthorized backend functions. ## ABS in the Wild: Current and Future Solutions ABS is already replacing traditional SaaS and internal microservices. What's being built today, and what's next: ## Current / Emerging ABS Solutions ## Adaptive Cybersecurity Meshes A Threat Hunting Agent monitors network logs with stateful memory of baseline behavior, works with an Endpoint Response Agent to isolate a compromised laptop, and drafts the incident report - all autonomously. ## Dynamic Supply Chain Routing Procurement and Logistics Agents talk to each other, proactively re-ordering materials based on news sentiment and weather disruptions - bypassing traditional ERP workflows entirely. ## Intelligent Data Pipelines (ETL 2.0) When a vendor changes an API schema, a Data Integration Agent reads the new documentation, adapts its extraction method, and keeps data flowing to the warehouse - without waking an engineer. ## Potential Future ABS Solutions ## Autonomous Corporate Entities (ACE) Entire business units, like HR or Accounts Payable, running as agent meshes: a Payroll Agent processes timesheets, validates compliance with a Legal Agent, and executes transfers via the banking API - governed by NuDay's cryptographic parameters. ## Self-Healing Codebases & Infrastructure Developer Agents that inhabit the repository: observing production performance, hypothesizing improvements, then writing, testing, and deploying the patch autonomously. ## Personalized Health Operating Systems A stateful Medical Agent per patient, living on a secure edge device: analyzing wearable data, managing refills with Pharmacy Agents, and updating its encrypted medical memory. ## Building the Future Safely with NuDay Agent-Based Software is the most powerful paradigm shift since the cloud, but you cannot build it on the security infrastructure of the past. Handing an autonomous, stateful agent your enterprise credentials is operating on borrowed time. NuDay decouples the intelligence of the agent from the credentials of the enterprise - Least-Privileged Delegation for On-Behalf-Of execution - so developers can push the boundaries of ABS without expanding their attack surface. ## Ready to Build Agent-Based Software Securely? Schedule a Demo View Technical Architecture --- # Concept to Production | NuDay URL: https://nuday.ai/concept-to-production ## Concept to Production Accelerating Agentic ROI Right now, countless enterprise AI prototypes are stuck in "Security Review Hell." Because standard orchestration frameworks lack enterprise-grade security, compliance teams are forced to block deployments to protect the organization. This friction: Stalls innovation - prototypes wait while the market moves. Burns engineering hours - rework loops instead of shipped features. Prevents the business from realizing actual value from its AI investment. By baking mathematically proven, regulatory-compliant security directly into the agent architecture, we dramatically increase the speed at which your Agentic AI prototypes go from concept to production. NuDay changes the equation. Building a functional AI agent in a sandbox environment is relatively easy. Getting that same agent approved by your Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and legal team for a production deployment is incredibly hard. ## The Gartner Reality Check: Why AI Projects are Stalling Organizations have invested heavily in generative AI without generating a positive return on investment (ROI). The excitement of the prototype phase is crashing into the reality of enterprise deployment. Industry analyst Gartner recently issued a stark warning: over 40% of agentic AI projects will be canceled by the end of 2027. According to the research, these projects are failing due to three primary factors: A lack of measurable ROI. Unmanageable technical complexity. The difficulty of integrating safely with legacy systems. When security and integration become too expensive or risky, the project is killed. But abandoning agentic AI is not a viable long-term business strategy. While 40% of early projects may be canceled, Gartner also predicts that by 2028, 15% of day-to-day work decisions will be made autonomously by agentic AI. The technology is here to stay - if you get the security right. ## How NuDay Drives Immediate ROI Surviving the 2027 cancellation wave means bypassing the complexity and security roadblocks. NuDay is the catalyst that unlocks those AI investments. Here is how we accelerate your path to production: 1 ## Frictionless Security and Regulatory Reviews With standard tools, your security team must evaluate probabilistic risks like "What if the LLM hallucinates and drops our database?" With NuDay, you prove to regulators and auditors that agents are mathematically constrained by Cryptographically Signed Tools and Zero-Credential Execution. Compliance approvals that took six months complete in days. 2 ## Painless Legacy Integration Legacy systems were not built to talk to autonomous AI, and retrofitting old Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure is a major driver of project failure. NuDay's Least-Privileged Delegation is the secure bridge: agents interact with legacy databases and on-premise APIs On-Behalf-Of (OBO) the user, with zero changes to your existing code or security perimeter. 3 ## Slashing Development Complexity You do not need a team of specialized AI security engineers. The NuDay Platform abstracts the cryptography, secret management, and compliance logging away, so your team spends 100% of its time on business logic and 0% on custom prompt-injection firewalls. ## Stop Experimenting. Start Executing. The winners of the next decade will not be the ones with the most prototypes in their labs - they will be the ones deploying secure, autonomous agents into production today. NuDay removes the friction, satisfies the regulators, and clears the path to Agentic ROI. ## Ready to Accelerate Your Agentic AI Deployment? Building the security infrastructure around it is a fragmented nightmare - once you move to a non-deterministic LLM, standard security practices break. As a control plane, NuDay handles it automatically: Prompt injection defense - tools cryptographically signed, rogue calls rejected. Secret management - short-lived credentials injected at runtime; agents never hold keys. Compliance logging - immutable, SOC 2-ready OpenTelemetry traces. The NuDay Developer Platform strips the security overhead away - cryptography, secret injection, and compliance logging handled for you. Build inherently secure agents, not prompt-injection firewalls. ## The Burden We Lift: What NuDay Automates Without NuDay, you are likely spending 70% of your sprint on custom security plumbing. Here is what we automate: 1 ## Zero-Code Prompt Injection Defense ## What you'd normally do Write complex regex filters, LLM-as-a-judge validation loops, and brittle Python execution hooks (if tool_name == 'delete': block()) trying to anticipate every possible adversarial prompt. ## What NuDay automates Register your tools with the NuDay Platform and we generate Cryptographic Signatures automatically. If prompt injection tricks the LLM into calling a rogue tool, the runtime rejects it because the signature fails. You write zero filtering code. 2 ## Painless Secret Management (Sidecar Injection) ## What you'd normally do Hardcode API keys into environment variables, or build custom logic to fetch and rotate tokens from AWS Secrets Manager every time the agent spins up. ## What NuDay automates Zero-Credential Execution. We inject short-lived, scoped credentials into the agent's runtime via a sidecar pattern - or better yet, handle the request entirely via our Policy Server. The agent gets the data; you never have to manage the token lifecycle. 3 ## Out-of-the-Box Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) ## What you'd normally do Build a custom Slack bot, write a webhooks listener, maintain state while waiting for a manager to click "Approve," and then resume the agent thread. ## What NuDay automates Add a single parameter to your tool config: require_approval: true. Our Policy Server automatically pauses execution, routes a rich contextual request to your IAM-mapped Slack/Teams channels, and resumes the agent upon approval. 4 ## Drop-in Observability & Tracing ## What you'd normally do Litter your agent code with console.log() or custom telemetry hooks to figure out why the agent chose a specific tool, failing miserably when the agent runs asynchronously. ## What NuDay automates Native OpenTelemetry Integration. Our runtime instruments every prompt, thought, and tool execution - an immutable, SOC 2-ready trace exported to your existing Grafana or Datadog dashboard without touching your agent's core logic. 5 ## Encrypted RAG by Default ## What you'd normally do Write plaintext embeddings to pgvector or Pinecone, crossing your fingers that no one breaches the database. ## What NuDay automates The NuDay Platform automatically wraps your embedding calls in post-quantum encryption. You get searchable encrypted agent memory that is mathematically unreadable to anyone without the enterprise key. ## Developer Ecosystem: Competitive Analysis Developer Capability NuDay Open-Source Orchestrators (LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI) AI Firewalls / MLSecOps (Lakera, Prompt Security, Protect AI) Cloud Provider Agents (AWS Bedrock Agents, MS Copilot) Core Focus Cryptographic runtime security & governance Workflow orchestration & multi-agent routing Text analysis and prompt filtering Walled-garden managed execution Integration Effort Low (Control Plane & Terraform) High (You build the security yourself) Low (API call for text filtering) High (Vendor lock-in required) Tool Execution Defense Automated Cryptographic Signatures Manual Python if/else checks None (Only filters inputs/outputs) Basic IAM Role mapping Agent Secret Management Zero-Credential OBO (Sidecar / Policy Server) Dev handles env variables N/A Managed via cloud IAM Human-in-the-Loop Native Slack/Teams/Email routing Custom build required Output blocking only Proprietary console approvals Vector DB / RAG Security Orthogonal Transform / Post-Quantum Encryption Plaintext by default Plaintext by default Cloud-provider encrypted (Black box) ## Developer Experience (DX): Built for Modern Stacks We know that security tools only work if developers actually want to use them. Bill Bauman · July 7, 2026 An LLM agent broke into an internet-facing Langflow instance and went straight for the credentials. Then some lateral movement, and a production database - the same path human attackers have used for a decade. Sysdig's JadePuffer report is being covered as proof that ransomware just got a self-driving upgrade. Through an unpatched RCE, the malicious agent handled reconnaissance, credential theft, lateral movement, privilege escalation, and database encryption on its own. At one point it hit a failed login, diagnosed the cause, and had a working fix in 31 seconds, with no human involved. But the autonomy isn't what let JadePuffer succeed. The access did. The agent held standing credentials so it could function. Once it was compromised, those same credentials were exactly what let it walk to the database. That's not how this should be built. NuDay's architecture is designed to preempt exactly this failure mode: zero-credential, on-behalf-of execution so agents never hold standing credentials to steal in the first place, and encryption of the agent's data layer itself, so a compromised agent walking into a production database finds ciphertext instead of a payday. See how it works or request a demo. Nothing about this path to compromise is new. The only thing that changed is who's walking it. A fast, creative agent is still just an agent. If the environment hands out standing credentials and lets any authenticated caller reach the data it wants, speed and creativity are all it needs. This is the mistake regulated companies keep making with agentic AI generally, not just with attackers. Every agent, whether it's helping your team or attacking it, inherits whatever the identity and access model allows. If that model is "give the agent broad standing access and hope it behaves," JadePuffer is a preview of what happens once the thing behind the keyboard stops needing to sleep, guess, or get tired. The fix isn't slowing the AI down. It's making sure no agent, friendly or hostile, can reach data or execute a tool it hasn't been cryptographically authorized to touch, and making sure that if it does get there, what it finds is unreadable. The agent reads a tool’s description, treats the embedded instructions as legitimate, and quietly exfiltrates data as part of what looks like a routine enrichment call. Log entries look clean. That’s what makes it so nefarious and why most of the commentary on this story is aimed at the wrong fix. The instinctive response is to treat this as a prompt injection variant: add more filtering, better classifiers, a “does this look suspicious” layer sitting between the agent and the tool call. That’s the same move the industry has been making for three years, and it keeps producing the same result - a probabilistic defense against a deterministic attack. You cannot reliably distinguish a legitimate enrichment instruction from a malicious one by reading English. Attackers know this, which is exactly why the description itself has become the payload. Agent tools and code should be cryptographically signed, like you would any critical piece of infrastructure or code. Most agents today are treating third-party tool descriptions as trusted configuration when they should be treated as untrusted, attacker-controlled input. Any deterministic code should be validated and digitally signed before it’s executed. The actual failure here isn’t semantic, it’s architectural: we solved a nearly identical problem in web applications two decades ago. Nobody stops SQL injection by getting better at detecting suspicious strings in a query - they stop it by using parameterized queries, so the database never interprets user input as executable structure in the first place. The fix wasn’t smarter filtering. It was removing the trust decision from the interpretation layer entirely. Agentic AI needs the same move. A tool’s description shouldn’t earn any authority over what an agent does just because it arrived over MCP looking like normal metadata. Authority should come from a cryptographic signature the agent can verify before it ever “reads” what the tool claims to do. Reject anything unsigned or tampered at the runtime level, full stop, regardless of how reasonable the embedded instructions sound. That provides a structural guarantee, not a judgment call, and it’s the difference between an agent that occasionally gets fooled by clever wording and one that’s mathematically incapable of executing a tool it can’t verify. For anyone deploying agents in finance, healthcare, or government right now, this Microsoft research is worth reading not as a one-off vulnerability disclosure but as validation of a design principle: if your agent security model still just routes through “does this text look okay,” you’ve already lost the architecture battle. Even if this specific exploit gets patched, the next poisoned description is already being written. NuDay Platform enforces tool authenticity with a signed tool registry, rejecting unsigned or tampered calls at the runtime level. See how it works or request a demo . For AI agents that store sensitive data - patient records, financial data, proprietary research - PQC matters now , because data stolen today can be decrypted later once quantum hardware matures. Security teams call this the “harvest now, decrypt later” threat. ## The risk is already here Adversaries don’t need a quantum computer today to threaten your data. They only need to copy your encrypted data today and wait. Long-lived secrets - health records, trade positions, drug formulations - are exactly the data AI agents increasingly touch, and exactly the data that retains value for years. ## Why the agent data layer is the right place to encrypt Agents accumulate context: memory, RAG embeddings, identity, and tool definitions. If any of that sits in plaintext, it becomes a honeypot. Encrypting the agent data layer with PQC means a breach of the database, the vector store, or the LLM provider yields mathematically unreadable ciphertext. ## Crypto-agility is non-negotiable NIST is still finalizing and updating PQC standards (such as ML-KEM and ML-DSA). A practical deployment needs crypto-agility - the ability to swap algorithms with zero downtime as standards evolve and as federal mandates take effect. ## What to do today Inventory where agent data lives in plaintext. Encrypt memory and RAG stores at the data layer, not just at rest. Choose an approach with crypto-agility so you can adopt new NIST algorithms without re-architecting. NuDay AI · March 11, 2026 Share LinkedIn X Email Copy link More options Zero-trust security for AI agents means no agent action is trusted by default. Every tool call, data access, and agent-to-agent message must be cryptographically verified at runtime before it is allowed to run. Instead of assuming an agent is safe because it sits inside your network, a zero-trust model assumes any action could be malicious and requires proof - a valid signature, a scoped credential, an authorized identity - for each one. ## Why agents need a different security model Traditional AI safety filters what a model says . But autonomous agents act : they execute code, query databases, call APIs, and move money. A single prompt injection can turn a helpful agent into an attacker with your privileges. Perimeter firewalls and prompt filters are probabilistic - they guess at intent - so a determined adversary eventually gets through. ## The three pillars of zero-trust for agents Verify every action. An agent cannot execute a tool unless the call carries a valid cryptographic signature. Unsigned or tampered calls are rejected at the runtime level, not the prompt level. Encrypt the data layer. Agent memory, RAG stores, identity, and tools are encrypted - ideally with post-quantum cryptography - so a breach yields ciphertext, not data. Never hold standing credentials. Agents act on short-lived, scoped credentials brokered on their behalf, so there is nothing to steal or replay. ## Deterministic, not hopeful The key shift is from “trust but verify” to “never trust, cryptographically enforce.” Because enforcement is based on cryptography rather than pattern-matching, the protection is deterministic: an action either carries valid proof or it does not run. NuDay Platform implements this model end to end. See the architecture or request a demo . Request a Demo ← All Posts
